George Kennan, one of the statesmen this country created during the depression, once said that California was a bit like the Protestant idea of heaven - the scenery was great, the weather wonderful, (and more I can't remember) and sooner or later you would see most everyone you know.

Actually, California seems to represent all that's right, and all that's wrong, with the US.
