I'm about with you, Lindy. It gets a bit too far off the wall here.

Whenever you have dissent characterized as "America-hating" by people who resent mightely paying for their government and haven't spent a day in service to anything but themselves, when you have people who wouldn't know one end of a weapon from the other promoting war over disarming a country, when those same people deride drafted soldiers, both dead, maimed and alive, while they sit at home on their minds, one has to wonder what there is.
(So help me - "no contribution". Their cannon fodder is ridiculed by the SecDOD. Now he's apologizing - screw him!)

When someone is glorying in a movie about Rambo chasing OBL, that's become way, way juvenile.

When the idea of democracy is trashed by calling dissent disloyal by about the only remaining rational conservative it's become ridiculous. How could one even talk about "democracy" with someone like that? Couldn't. They don't have the concept.

Oh, self-righteousness could be a reason to sticking around, that's for sure. "Thank God I'm not that dumb." Get to feel self-righteous. That's fun. Tha'ts too easy, and only goes so far. Some comaraderie, though I try to avoid most liberals as my "style" is too contentious.

I have to admit that as a very young guy I disregarded others as much as these people. Thought war was neat. I didn't know a legitimate argument from an ad hominem attack until the distinction was beat into me by someone who didn't know either, but didn't like ad hominem stuff.

And, I've raised my kids. Thanks to their mother they didn't grow up snotty, and thanks to their grandmother and parents my grandkids aren't snotty. No sense trying to raise these people. As you've noticed, I still enjoy it, don't have anywhere else to really be a jerk. I can get down there with them, and don't particularly care for that, either.

And, some are great. Some aren't. Don't know what I'll do. Regards to Publius, who stays polite and rational, as does alcaray, Robert, Fox, and others. Think I'll take a nap.
