You posit that the atmosphere may be at such a delicate equilibrium that the heat added to it by radioactive activities could tip the equilibrium into the direction of dissipating the atmosphere.
Is that what you are conjecturing?
Ed
J -- Basically that is my conjecture. Naturally, I do not know how 'delicate' the equilibrium is, that is why I am searching for information from various sources, including here. (If you know how delicate the equilibrium is or is not, then please tell me.)
Also, I do not expect the Earth's atmosphere to 'disapear' all of a sudden, but the idea that IF the 'increased' radioactive decay products have ANY effect on the 'escaping' molecules, then we should know about it.
Call it my 'academic endeavor' to find out if the 'conjecture' is true or false.
Cheers
Johannes
