When the Rainbow warrior was sank (killing one of its crew) and it was discovered that french divers from their secret services did it, it caused the resignation of the late Charles Hernu, the then minister of defense ; and mr Fabius, then prime minister, admitted to what happened and apologized to New Zealand.
