<Almost live from an internet kiosk in IAH, waiting for a flight.
So there I was, a bit parched buying a bottle of the usual, overpriced ($3.49/1.5L) "viva!" agua purificada, when a middle age dude comes in behind me, looks at the dual language labled water (english/spanish) and asked the store clerk if this was French water. Now, regardless of the deadpan delivery I would've thought it was an attempt at contemporary satire if he didn't have the overdressed look of a cowboy main character sans hat from a western filmed in Italy.
The exchange must've been a bit confused, and as he was unable to read the label which says it's bottled bya corporation in Natick,MA as the cow-dude ended up with the impression that it was French. He walks across the snack area to an ice cream store muttering something about Ozarka. Now, I like Ozarka better than the poolwater purified with a coffee filter I was drinking at the moment, but at that moment I wasn't about to be bullied by this ignorant turd and so I sat, facing him bottle turned spanish side visible. He turned and saw the bottle, looked at me and gave a look of disapointment mixed with some anger(?).
"It's spanish." I offered a little too eagerly.
"What?"
"It's not French water, it's labeled in Spanish."
Apparently still not buying it, he says in a heavy Texan drawl, "You're supporting terrorism, buddy."
"Here, look at the label. It says bottled in Massa(whatever)."
"Oh, ok. Well I'll let you off this time." and with a friendly smirk, he was off down the concourse.
But regardless of the agressive (axis of weasels) chip on his shoulder, I suspecthe's really a nice fellow citizen just doing what he considers a civic duty.
