As you point out below, we've all done it. Including me. I now remember that I dissed a leftist political commentary a while back and in the process pointed out that the commentator was a theater critic for the San Francisco papers (don't remember who any more.) Oops.

However, I do think considering the source is important when the source has an axe to grind.
