Well, with his diabetes and heart condition he was sort of asking for it. Not to mention all the ways he pissed off the planet.
I'm not so sure about his son's future reign. He'll probably get upstaged by some general, but it likely won't matter if the Korean people choose to rebel. They were raised to revere him, like a god amongst men; and his children and underlings don't exactly have that image. Plus, now that he's dead, that illusion's shattered and they are free. Vive la Revolucion!
