Re: U.S. Urged to Sign Children's Treaty

We're going to be beating this kind of thing to death for decades, aren't we?

The issue of national sovereignity in this is never addressed, of course. A treaty supposedly overrides even the Constitution, and it's not surprising that the UN is trying to get a wedge into the freedoms of the United States by this technique.

Typical irrelevant argument: "Are you AGAINST children?"

"Well, what's wrong with Red China deciding what kind of cars American companies should make? What's the matter? Are you in FAVOR of pollution?"

Do we need the U.N. telling us what to do? By what right, either legal or moral?

The United Nations is comprised largely of collectivists and socialists. Many of the member nations are ruled by collectivists, socialists, and outright thuggish tyrants. Who, incidentally, are pissing all over the "Rights of the Child" treaty they signed even as we speak. Go down the list (under "CRC") and tell me how many of these nations treat their kids better than we do. And how many of these nations have their children seething in a living hell? Is North Korea (signed Sept. 1990) going to tell us how to treat kids?

Objections to the treaty can be read here.

As with almost everything the modern U.N. is trying to do, this is yet another attempt to rip the United States a new one disguised as Peace and Love.
