Rereading Larry's post and your response more carefully, I can see where I have inferred far more than the sentence actually says, which considering how pissed I've gotten over the media lynchers doing exactly that, is particularly bad.
I tend to haul a lot of baggage onto this board that comes from the many other sources I look at, and I was coming off a massive barrage of articles and columns that pretty much accused not only every last Republican of being racist at the genetic level, but anyone from south of the Mason Dixon line. I overlaid the snideness of similar comments that these other people made ("Oh, comes from Mississippi eh? Wonder where he hangs HIS sheet.") over your simple sentence.
That being said, what exactly do you understand more about Larry? That he would become a Republican as a protest against those Democrats around him that expressed racism?
