Political donations for media and such are a bit hard to track down on the superb Opensecrets.org website, but the closest I got were the following categories:

Cable TV, which divides donations almost right down the middle between Democrats and Republicans (details here. Click on the link "top contributors" in each category to get these details)

TV Production, heavily weighted to the Democrats

TV/Radio Stations, heavily weighted toward Republicans

Books, magazines and newspapers, slightly weighted toward Democrats.

Interesting, but I don't know how conclusive it is. One can find out a lot about who individual companies support*, But to really do this up brown one would have to consolidate this data not according to category, but according to who owns what, which covers all the categories and many different companies. Too much work for me.

*Poor Martha Stewart supported Democrats heavily, but apparently being rich in an ostentatious manner overrode this and she ended up on the shitlist anyway.
