Insurance Co.s have both hands in the pie.

While piling on high premiums for the consumer, they also have their hands in the back pockets of thephysicians.
Average malpractice insurance for surgeons in states without tort reform is about 30% of annual income. For an orthopedic surgeon, that's over $150,000 per year.

It's easy for us to blame the Insurance Co.s
It's easy for the insurance Co.s to blame the legal system for allowing "lotto mentality” jury awards.

I think part of the problem comes from the entrance requirement of a four-year degree for both Medical and Law schools. It amounts to nothing more than a restriction of entry to the trades. Two years of the four-year degree is usually wasted on classes like anthropology, political science and the History of Jazz.

I won't give a damn if my doctor looks like Doogie Houser as long as he can fix my broken bones without breaking my bank account. We need to flood the market with doctors and lawyers.

And as long as I have the magic wand, let's cap or eliminate the percentage basis on which lawyers work. Isn't $200-$300 per hour enough? Let's also rewrite our laws so the average person can read and understand them. Ever try to write a patent? And how about a flat tax rate...
