Re: Cause and effect (still hanging out at this thread)

<In my entire adult life, I have always been less-well off, more often unemployed (and for longer), and more fearful of misguided foreign policy and its dangerous consequences during Republican administrations than during Democratic ones. Perhaps I'm unique in this respect - I doubt it. Oversimplistic, perhaps, but solidly grounded in personal observation.

Don't know how old you are, and how many administrations you went through. Johnson? Carter? Reagan?

As for me, I have found my personal employment situation and other things have been largely independent of any "trends," economic cycles, or Presidential administrations. For example, I'm doing a lot better now than I was during the Clinton economic boom, and I was not doing so well during parts of the Reagan economic boom.

All else being equal, and to oversimplify, I believe the Republicans are better for economic growth than the Democrats, largely because they don't treat wealth as a crime against nature, and it's damn tough to get a healthy economy without wealth.
