Politicians on both sides of the Atlantic have not yet, or are not yet ready to, come to terms with a benign Russia.
Thinking about it, I'm not sure which government would be more likely to put the issue to a vote - Germany or US.
The only reason I haven't agreed with you before, is your point is usually wrapped up in an anti-European tirade.
