I read about this yesterday and was a little taken aback by it. From what info we seem to have--and we also have to bear in mind that we may well not have the whole story*--it seems that both the security officers and the cops may well have over-reacted.
Doesn't mean everything's going to heck-in-a-handbasket, it just means a handfull of people made a couple of bad calls. I'm hopefull that this "case" will never see the inside of a courtroom.
*A representative of the mall has said something to the effect that Downs' behaviour (not just the shirt) was disrupting the other shoppers, but that might just be smoke.
