Hi Board
Here's a good story to illustrate some issues about humaniform robots and humanity...

Greg Egan is a darn good writer who has covered the territory of identity and information theory very well in a multitude of novels and short-stories. As his fictional character, Robert Stoney, points out in the fictional debate, with someone a lot like C S Lewis, humaniform robots will be people for the same reason we assume other humans are conscious entities - because they behave like they are!
Philosophically we have no other way of knowing if another is conscious or not. We assume it based on experience and we model their thought processes almost automatically, but sadly not many of us really try and get inside another's head very often.
