How about a Lunar Cycler?
In a modified Hohman transfer orbit, a massive ferry vehicle that loops between Earth and Moon every 3 days.
It's crazy to fly a shuttle or something even bigger to the Moon for a single mission, but if you get to reuse it multiple times, it's worth doing.
To get to the Moon you have to make a big synchronisation burn to catch the ferry, but you only need to take mission essentials and consumables, not the entire structure of the Ferry.
On return you either dive in and aerobrake or do a de-orbit burn, or a bit of both.
