<I don't think (in fact I know;-) you will find this scientific description anywhere else right now. So it's a Habitable zone exclusive ;-) You are all now more knowledgeable than the world's top astrophysicists. Congrats!
I feel so -- big-headed...
Here’s a first for you, Tech1:
In some countries, automobiles that have the word “turbo” emblazoned somewhere on them are considered -- funny.
(Korea - turbo = hairy = hairy car)
Incidentally, the water flows the other way in the toilet not because of planet rotation - but rather because the polar molecules are interfacing with an opposite polarity! It's NOT the planet's rotation that influences each H2O molecule - it's the charge of the magnetic field!!!!!
Yes, some toilets might rotate the same way but that would be due to bowl shape, etc. A pure bowl will ALWAYS be draining opposite. It would have to be removed from the earth's magnetic field to do otherwise!
Actually, most toilets with bowls will flush clockwise every time, regardless of where they are on the Earth. Toilets are generally designed to flush clockwise. My baby brother just returned from a trip to Australia to visit his in-laws, but confessed he didn’t really pay any attention to Coriolis force while there. Sorry.
As for which direction the vortex of the flush would take in a micro-G environ -- well, since it’s micro-G, it simply won’t drain. Proof of Coriolis and zero-effect in a region devoid of an planetary-field will have to wait for the invention of non-rotating artificial gravity -- but it should then drain straight down with no appreciable vortex, other than that which would be produced naturally in a disturbed liquid.
You may ask why didn't badastronomy folks and others figure that out? Well...some scientists 'think' while other folks are busy with 'critiques' ;-)
Like us?
(that can be taken either way)
;^)
Cheers,
Dan
