B.S.!!! Where do you come up with such nonsense? If you ionize a material in a vacuum you can accelerate it and have it move through the vacuum... Obviously not a "perfect" vacuum since plasma itself is matter...If you want to argue this with me you will lose because I do it most days of the week... I shoot 1.5kW of infrared laser light into liquid Xenon injected into a fairly good vacuum- heating it to a few dozen times the temp. of the surface of the sun... the ions/plasma move through the vacuum. My PhD work was creating a plasma a few atoms at a time and then moving them down a tube to a detector...

Space is much more complicated than that! And yes, if you inject a plasma into a vacuum it can exist- you mess up your "perfect" vacuum in doing so because plasma is matter but trust me plasma can move through a vacuum... Again, I speak from first hand experience

In a comet gasses are outgassed from the volatile ices, they are ionized AND DO NOT FORM THE ICE CRYSTALS YOUR REDICULOUS THEORY REQUIRES! They are ionized and when recombination occurs they emit photons... this is NOT reflection... it is EMISSION... This alone disproves your theory.... The ion recombination emits specific frequencies for different atoms/molecules... This emission is seen in the tail and coma and NOT in some diffuse cloud around the nucleus...like your already completely refuted theory would predict! Again-Reflection is not the same as emission!!

The medium the supposed Ion tail appears to be moving through can not exist as a straight line moving mass. It can only be there if it is completely surrounding the comet in 360 degrees and on all axis.

Then and only then can it be either an electrical show phosphorescing in the darkness of the tail, or a light show caused by refraction of coma reflection.

Do you even know what refraction and reflection mean? The light from the comet tail and coma show EMISSION lines... emission only seen in the coma and tail...

(remember the street lights with the show they put on in the shadow above them?)

In another analogy, think of the beam of light coming from a light house. If the air is clear, you do not see the beam as it swings around in a 360 degree circle unless you look directly at the light. But if there is a slight haze in the air you can see the beam of light and it appears to move through the air, fairly slowly near to the light house and much faster at a long distance from the light house.

another FLAWED analogy... if you spectrally resolved the observed beam you will see it resembles the spectrum of the lighthouse.... but you look at the spectrum of the ion trail it does not reflect the spectrum of the sun...

Now try to imagine a situation in which there is no mist in the air except in the beam of light and it is able to move laterally with the beam. That is what you are expected to believe is happening in the so called Ion tail of a comet under the accepted theories. It is like thinking the mist is being shot from the lighthouse at the speed of light. Quantum Physics, gravitaional and orbital physics all say that it is not possible.
