Re: Well

"Outward Bound" is a good experience, but probably gets old pretty quick as a lifestyle.

I've enjoyed my share of nature, but speaking as someone who has enjoyed a cup of hot cocoa while watching a blizzard out an insulated picture window, I have never kidded myself about the fact that nature basically wants me dead, and only a lot of damn hard work on the part of my ancestors and myself has given me the luxury of "enjoying" it.

You probably have a broader perspective than most, but I honestly don't think many people realize what life would be like without the civilization that they ignore, like a fish ignores water. Until it is gone.

Given a choice, I would much rather mine minerals off the Moon and asteroids then out of an Appalachian mountain, but if I have to, I'd mine the mountain. Poverty kills more people than pollution ever did.

If someone tries to tell me now that I can't even mine the Moon and asteroids, because their existence as a rock is sacrosanct while my existence is optional, well, I just don't know how to argue with that.
