What's funny is that it has long been a tradition in science fiction movies and TV shows that one could put on a shiny silver "radiation suit" and be protected from high levels of radiation (the actual suits in real life were intended to keep radioactive contaminants off the wearer so they could be easily removed--they did NOT stop hard radiation as such, although some may have shielded from low levels. Still, some movie maker saw atomic workers wearing them, and the rest is history.)
