To read those groups have no real power isn't a big surprise. But I wonder how they could have any.
One thing I like about the NSS is that it doesn't concentrate on just one issue like going to Mars, but examines a wide range of possibilities.
The NSS is also a merge between 2 former advocacy groups (NSI and L5 Society), so perhaps other merges should take place if only to have a stronger voice.
