I entered the Army in 1975 as a Private. My MOS was 11B2P, Airborne Infantry. I was a PFC when I switched to the Air Force in 1978. After several close calls during my jumps, I decided it was time to find a more sane line of work. Besides, there isn't a lot of demand on the job market for people trained to jump out of airplanes and kill people. I got out of the Air Force (the first time) in 1982 as a Sergeant.
I went back into the Air Force via Officer Training School in 1985, earning a commission as a butter bar (2nd Louey). I got out in 1992 as a Captain. So, if anyone is going to drop, it'll be you.
Army Private to Air Force Captain. Paratrooper to Space Surveillance Program Manager. Not exactly an unprecedented military career, but not exactly common, either.
