Larry, whatever I did to set you off I apologize.
I did not call you a bigot. I said nothing about diversity or free speech.
My only complaint was about apparent non-tolerance of "liberal" views. I was trying to point out that the same view you espoused could have been stated by a liberal and that you seemed to equating liberal with "bad". Sorry idf that was not the case.
Personally I have a wide range of views - some of them "liberal", some of them "conservative", some of them solely mine and some of them nuts. Most people I have come across do, with varying degrees of lefty or righty and certitude.
A lot of liberals may not chracterize themselves as such because the word has become so demonized over the years (in US at least - in Europe it has different connotations and is a relatively benign word), just as "conservative" seems to be becoming a derogatory term here.
Regards diversity - I agree with you. There are no longer dissenting voices to be heard in the Democratic party, and the British Labour party die-hards are hushed over. This is bad for free speech and bad for democracy.
It's not all one-sided and cuts both ways - no-one at the DNC walked out because the speaker was gay.
Once again, I apologise for any offence caused.
Tony
