The fact that Bush did not do a feeble, politicall motivated knee jerk reation, like a certain predecessor of his, shows that President Bush is building this to do it right.
I saw the Ambassador of the legitimate government of Afghanistan talk speak in depth last night on PBS.
This is very winnable.
The Afghan of today is more over rated than the Iraqi army of 10 years ago, when the naysayers against then President Bush talked about how we could have no hope of over coming the great fighters of the genius military stretegist, Saddam Hussein.
If you recall, 100 hours after the initiation of the ground assault, it we had accomplished the goals of the war.
The Taliban is an under armed slave army, lead in large part by a sociopaths from outside Afghanistan, who are doing a perverted Islamic equivalent of playing cowboys and Indians. The dream they claim to be fighting for is no more real than if somebody moved to the west to become a cowboy after watching a bunch of John Wayne movies.
ObL is a spolied nutcase rich boy who has thrown around his wealth to build up an army.
Do you ever wonder what in the hell happens to the bad guys in a James Bond movie after the bad guy is defeated?
We will soon find out.
They are already on the move to avoid capture, the people of Aghanistan are sick of these interlopers, their soures of help and support are drying up, and their networks around the world are the highest priority of nearly every national intelligence and law enforcement agency globally.
While nearly ignored they were barely able to pull these attacks off.
Do you think they wil find it so easy now?
President Bush is building the tools to utterly defeat them.
He has the self-discipline and wisdom to know when to engage those tools.
I am very very confident of this.
Even if they are able to pull off another major terror attack, their time is very limited, and their ability to do this is eroding daily.
