I think the time for diplomacy is rapidly coming to an end. We have tried diplomacy; we have even tried backing out of their affairs entirely (such as in Iran). The extremists among them have only been emboldened.

The extremists are willing to inflict their worldview by whatever means necessary. Any moderates who stand in their way are either killed or forced to leave their home country: Leaving behind a nation-state that is even more bent toward the extremist point of view.

Its time for the United States and the other Western powers to recognize that negotiation isn't working. We need to back up the negotiation with force; otherwise, we are in no position to negotiate.
