Well, some of those who won the Nobel Peace Prize have name such as:
Mandela, Kissinger, Elie Wiesel, Peres, Rabin, Begin, Martin Luther King, Walesa, Tutu, Gorbatchev....
All of them got a "shiny peace of metal around their neck", as you say.
I wonder if the conservatives really consider the prize as worhtless, considering who got it.
Sometimes, it suits the US, sometimes it doesn't but the fact is: the whole world is always curious about who gets it and the commitee is very much respected. The winners come from across the planet and win the prize for many different reasons with peace as a common denominator.
BTW: if Larry King thought the Dalai Lama was an Islam leader, it's not the Dalai's fault, it's Larry's.
