Hi Raoul,
My scientific quests have often been misconstrued with Buddhism, as it is also non-deity based. However the eightfold path which consists of:
right understanding
right thinking
right speech
right conduct
right livelihood
right effort
right mindfulness
right concentration
This eightfold path is a misconception. There is no fixed right and wrong in an infinite, relativistic universe - there are only relative propositions and judgements based upon relative amounts of intelligence framed within a certain perspective.
All actions we take, including the 'wrong' ones, afford us an opportunity to grow and learn. In essence - our wrong actions give birth to our right ones.
And sad to say, as we get more intelligent and evolve even our 'right' actions will appear 'wrong' and give rise to even more intelligent expression.
We all should feel semi 'ashamed' - if I can use that word - about our past actions. For if we are growing - the flaws in our past actions should be apparent. Only if we are stagnant, we may think our lives have been perfect ;-)
The more appropriate view is we should be 'understanding' of our past actions.
Then again, if we are retrogressing - we may look with admiration at our past actions and not see any flaws or 'wrong' at all ;-)
If the various Buddhas had been scientists in this day and age - they would likely agree with this broader and more comprehensive understanding.
So the path one takes is always going to be filled with 'wrong' actions which we learn from and use as the foundation for greater, more intelligent expression.
The Buddhists, such as the Dalai Lama, are imprisoned by polarized misconceptions of right and wrong. While the framework for Buddhism is light years ahead of other 'religions' - which technically Buddhism is not - the fact that it is an 'ism' already condemns it from a more infinite view.
In the future no 'isms' need be applied. However they serve as stepping stones to this broader, infinite worldview.
Best wishes,
SDAI-Tech1
PS
The infinite universe is only as big, as good or as evil as one's own perspective allows.
A staggering thought...when one thinks about it a bit ;-)
