>"The true Psycho Liberals, most of which settle on either coast, are the most entertaining. Their silliness is directly proportional to the perceived success of the Republicans, so I suppost this could be a good sign if you are a conservative."
Tom, do you ever read what you have posted, or are you like Walt Whitman--if you contradict yourself it is because you contain multitudes?
The inference from the above quote is that you now consider yourself a conservative, so you see good signs. Earlier, you self defined yourself as an "anarchistic libertarian."
This is a term that describes a tradition of decentralist economic in the tradition of Prince Kropotkin, Lewis Mumford, Alex Comfort, and E.F. Schumacher. According to Schumacher a libertarian political economy distinguishes itself from socialism and capitalism by its focus on the scale of organization as being the primary problem and independent of all other problems.
Big business is the nemesis of anarchism and this tradition is closely affiliated with socialist values, even though it prefers a pure economics system. The preference for free enterprise and private ownership exists only if the size of the enterprise is not so large as to "divorce ownership from personal involvement. Because from bigness comes impersonality, insensitivity, and a lust to concentrate abstract power." -SMALL IS BEAUTIFUL
So you see Tom, you do confuse me. Mixing concepts is inovative and creative, but it also tends to obscure the terms being used. So be patient, I am trying to use the same terms in which you espoused your personal philosophy.
>"I have long maintained that "West Wing" owes its success to being a fantasy outlet for liberals: a world where Democrats aren't corrupt, the welfare state works, the world runs on solar power, everyone rides a bike to work, and Gore won Florida."
You are right here, Gore did win Florida, solar power sound worth further exploration and I went out and bought a bike today on your advice.
Cheers, Publius
