Re: clarification on the draft
Thanks to both you and Larry for a lot of useful information I had not known. But for the record, just because there's a precedent for something doesn't make it the right thing to do, or we'd still own slaves. I submit that any justifiable military action will raise enough volunteers to get the job done, and even a peacetime army will manage to keep enough personnel.
Stupid government military escapades, on the other hand, practically demand a draft to keep soldiers on duty. I wonder how much shorter the Viet Nam war would have been if the draft had not been available.
