Actually Tom, you really should not only mind being called a conservcative, but you should avoid the manipulation the conservatives have used to polarize to the point that you feel obligated to refer to "psycho liberals."
I don't feel constrained to find a perjoritive to add to "conservatives," I find that term objectionable enough as it stands.
I will sit with you on the drug laws. I object to these laws as being based on fundamentalist Protestant religion and so being a breach in the wall of separation of church and state.
Don't agree that the draft is a violation of individual rights. I understand your position, but I believe part of the dues of being in a civilized society is an obligation to protect that society. Besides I like the idea of a substantial portion of our military being men that don't want to be there. This is a certain factor in preventing a professional military that might be in a position to overthrow the elected civilian government because they know better what the country needs.
We have a had a draft starting with the Revolutionary War and I think it is a pretty good system to have a balance between the professional soldier and the Cinncinatus.
Mohandas Ghandi did a pretty fair job in India in attempting to introduce an "appropriate technology" and gradually growing into a more sophisticated Western model. Remember that Ghandi was educated to the Law in England and practiced in Africa. Then he went to India and learned to weave his own clothes as an inspiration for his people to throw off dependance on the West for basics that Indians should produce themselves. They have done a pretty good job of this, given the circumstances.
And no, Tom you are not too fast for me.
