Given the repeated and unhindered acts of outrageous terrorist attacks from Palestinian territory, Israel's military campaign in the territories is totally justified. No nation on earth would tolerate indefinitely such savagery. We Americans certainly wouldn't. Just imagine the ferocity of the US reaction if terrorists were killing Americans in suicide attacks in our cities like New York...um...well, never mind.
While you're correct about Palestine and the Palestinians (a political creation post-1967 to designate Arabs to be used as pawns in the ongoing battle to wipe out Israel) the UN and the international community in general, the US, and, quite importantly, many Israelis themselves see the political and moral necessity of creating a Palestinian state. Israel's PM even offered the territories to Arafat in 2000 as a Palestinian state, if only the Palestinans would renounce terrorism, stop trying to destroy Israel, and in general behave as civilized human beings. Apparently too much to ask of Arafat, sadly.

Relax. Give Bush credit for being the last one to tell Israel to withdraw
