Why do Hezbollah fighters attack Israel from Lebanon? There are no settlements there.
Why did the Arabs attack Israel non-stop for 20 years from 1947-1967? There were no settlements in the West Bank or Gaza during that period.
Israel has a legitimate right to self defense, and a legitimate right to occupy a buffer zone of the West Bank for security purposes, and to resettle the existing settlements into that area. The Arab aggressors have, in my view, forfeited their right to a full 100% of the West Bank, because of their continual aggression and terrorist attacks to destroy Israel. Just as in the case of Serbian control over Kosovo, Arab aggression cannot and should not be rewarded with territorial authority (and it's a bit amazing that the international commuity for the most part had no problem at all with pulling Kosovo away from Serbian control, as a punishment for acts of aggression, yet feels no need to punish Arabs states for repeated acts of aggression - must have something to do with all that oil)
The Israeli offer of up to 97% of West Bank territory in 2000 was more than generous enough to the Palestinians. It is in fact way more than they rightfully deserve, given the history of aggression and terrorism to destroy Israel.

Settlements are an excuse, not the reason for the conflict

- Israel's altar
- I don't know
- Settlements are an excuse, not the reason for the conflict
- Is that reasonable?
- That is really easy for you to say.
- Maybe they are an in-your face provocation
- Are the setlements a provocation, or a response to provocation?
