The attacks from Lebanon seem to be for the same reason Japan was attacked from everywhere we could, not just Pearl Harbor.
Israel was not attacked non-stop from 1947 to 1967. However, in those years the Arabs DID want to get rid of Israel. And now, if they could, they would still like it gone. No question about that.
AND, everyone there is resigned to Israel remaining. It's not the same issue it used to be. Times change. Maybe not the emotions, but certainly the political reality.
At one time the US did what it could to prevent the communist take-over of China. Didn't want that to happen. That was about the same time Israel was being created.
And now, I suppose, the US would like to see another regime in China, but has become resigned to the communist government. The US has accepted the political reality, one which wasn't accepted in the late '40s.
Different times, different political realities. Israel isn't where she was in the '40s, '50s, or '60s.
And how can you expect the Palestinians to accept a "peace" during which Israel continues to hold land illegally occupied, and continues to occupy more.
Seriously, what would your family think of you if your neighbor kept building in your back yard, a small toolshed, a garage, maybe a pool. Built a fence to keep you out.
Let's say you call the cops, and they write a letter to the neighbor, asking them to stop. About once a year the cops send them the same letter, but the building continues.
Let's say you start to rais hell. The cops propose a peace. Leave the garage, toolshed, pool, and maybe allow the neighbors to build a small guest house. But, you can plant some roses on the neighbors property.
What would your family think of you if you accepted that arrangement? Your relatives? Your friends? What would you think of yourself? Could you accept a "peace" which left those buildings, and maybe a bigger toolshed when they needed to build one?
I hope not.

- Is that reasonable?
- That is really easy for you to say.
- Maybe they are an in-your face provocation
- Are the setlements a provocation, or a response to provocation?
