They have everything to gain from supporting the United States and everything to lose by taking it on as an enemy.

Russia would love the evil American Capitalists to come in an develop the Pristine Wilderness of the Siberian North Slope.

They could even build a pipeline straight to Japan.

Middle Eastern Oil is our only source right now because OPEC has the power to keep the price artificially low... That's right: ARTIFICIALLY LOW...

If they shut off the spiggot and the price goes up. Alternative fuels and alternative oil fields take on economic viability.

The natural price progression is at best flat, and as technology and conservation advances are made, the price will in all liklihood go down.
