"I think most readers know which one of us is making sense."
If most people on these boards agreed with me, I'd go find a board where they didn't. Or take the other side. On most of the issues here everyone is wrong (or right). It's possible to argue either side. I know that if this were pro-Palestinian I'd be pointing out how the Israelis have a lot of legitimate grievances. (My heart is, though, with the Palestinians since Israel elected a mass murderer as president. A brutal SOB who picked the fight with the Palestinians.)
And, most people on this board, not all by any means, but many of the "noisier" ones do not seem to be open to new information. There is a simplistic jingoistic prejudice which covers every situation, which truly believes things like "you're for us or against us".
Anyway, under what is called "free enterprise", Bush rarely has to choose between the interests of the rich and "free enterprise". Those interests coincide nicely.
However, when he has had to choose, where the situation was EITHER free enterprise OR dividends and executive benefits, Bush has chosen dividends and executive benefits.
The tariffs serves the same constituency as do the subsidies (as does the tax cut). Helps the rich get richer at the expense of the middle class.
And he's done it well enough that much of the middle class doesn't know how hard he's stuck it to them.
And, I have no doubt, you'll figure it out some day. Your anal sphincter will get so stretched you'll wonder why it's sore, and it will dawn on you.
A secret. Politicians of all persuasions, stripes, parties, all of 'em, they lie. Even your guy. Maybe especially your guy.
