A small nitpick...

The term "well-regulated" in the language of the time meant something along the lines of "well-organized," not the way some people have interpreted it to mean "restricted by government regulations."

Obviously there can be certain limits on a Constitutional right. The First Amendment, for example, does not mean that all slander and libel laws are meaningless, although in Jefferson's time this was a controversial issue. I have no issue for example with convicted felons not being allowed to buy guns. In many venues, felons can't vote either, and this doesn't seem to raise major Constitutional issues. I wouldn't want the guy next door storing nerve gas in his basement either, although I probably wouldn't object under normal circumstances to his owning an automatic weapon.
