Re: I do stand corrected on just about this entire thread . . .

Got it, Matt.

The fault rests squarely on the shoulders of the British and their apparent need to colonize the world (I assume things have changed a bit since).

This whole mess stems from the fall of the Ottoman Empire, British occupation of Palestine, the League of Nations supporting British rule in Palestine (“They’re such children.” -- Harvey Korman referencing American Indians in Blazing Saddles), and Britain’s desire to partition Palestine to create a Jewish state, complete with reports referring to the “forced transfer, if needed, of Palestinians from the ‘Jewish’ part,” with the Arab world, understandably, rejecting this and calling for the immediate independence of Palestine, in its entirety.

Seems like a reasonable argument to me.

Again, The land belonged to Palestine, but was stolen out from under them.

Jewish immigration (that’s illegal immigration, btw) didn’t start in Palestine until the late 1800s, while still a member of the Ottoman Empire. An open Arab revolt was launched against the empire in 1916. A year later, talks in Britain were underway regarding a Jewish state in Palestine.

Merely the British need for annexation without representation -- and it’s been downhill ever since.

Dan (yes, there were Palestinians at the Ottoman parliament, but I couldn’t help the jab)
