What's really going on...

It is obvious that if there were any working plans for an Iraqi attack, whether by conventional military invasion, or some kind of clever covert end run, that the last thing anyone in the Bush administration would want to do is spread it around.

A lot of people in the media and a lot of people in other levels of our government would cheerfully spread a top-secret plan to the four winds if they thought some political advantage could be gained by it. It's been done a number of times. The Defense Department, and the Bush administration, have to know this. How would they present the situation? What would they say?

There could be layers on layers here. Or maybe not. Everyone is stumped on what Bush is doing, including many conservatives.

That being said, the nail-biting about Iraq sounds very similar to what we heard before the Gulf War. I wish I had a nickel for everyone that predicted that our pathetic volunteer soldiers would be overrun by the fanatic unkillable berserkers that made up the Iraqi armed forces. In practice, the greatest threat they presented was immobilizing our tanks by clogging up the tank tracks with their bodies.
