Re: I thought it was pretty clear...

Hello SDAI, obviously I read you wrong and I apologize.
However, I have a few comments, starting with your previous one:
>"What IS scary is how quickly the media and the DNC have orchestrated their divide and conquer techniques against the executive branch - at the risk of their own lives......a nuclear bomb may go off in one of our major cities - and instead of letting the President do his job now- they are trying to make him have to waste time on "spin control" and try and pin some sort of blame on the administration for 9/11. "

OK...stop right there.
Where is oversight and accountability ANYWHERE in our burreaucracy??
Things are TOTALLY out of control.
For years, our foreign policy (dredged up and carried out by HIS father and current White House administrators) have effectively created this mess for all of us. First by shoring up Saddam AND Bin Laden for our own oil interests. Then making enemies out of them after they were all "used up". Don't get me started. These guys, and their energy "executives" have taken their game waay too far, have bankrupted many companies, and savings and loans and bankrolled many arm sales doing it. And who got rich? And who has the most holdings? And who continues to dance with, play footsie with and sleep with WHOMEVER has the best cash flow at the time?
Then when somebody yells "FIRE!" and starts snooping around.....guess who uses "national security concerns" to HIDE BEHIND??

Enron is a perfect example. The latest reports about the blocked FBI investigations about the terrorist plot AND Bush's PRIOR knowledge about the attacks are the obvious questions that won't go away. You say "Let him do his job". I say he DIDN'T do it.
He went on holiday instead in August and so did Cheney, avoiding being anywhere near the cited targets. He should have had the FBI pick up all the suspected terrorists THEN ...AND alerted airline officials.
No, these guys wait until the shit hits the fan, then cover up with the blame game.

>"The distraction will cost lives."

No. Perhaps the creation of Ridge's "Homeland Security" will just stall and obsfucate the real matters at hand. Maybe they are doing this to separate the "wheat from the chaff".......bringing all perpetraitors in to be looked at, then letting go of the ones who would be politically expedient to let go. And fry the rest.
Frankly, the FBI and the CIA need to share information and get a task force out there to combine and use all information.
Another secret organization will just slow down the process, not speed it up. Just my opinion though.

>"Daschle wants an independent investigative body to take up the time of our law enforcement agencies - in a flagrantly political bid to distract Bush and put him on the defensive for something he shouldn't waste one minute of precious time upon."

Now THAT's a statement!
Makes me think of the multi-million dollar investigation that the GOP and Starr spent looking into Clinton's sex life. I don't think you can compare the WTC warnings with stained blue dresses, knee-pads and wet cigars........;~0

>"The .......Executive Branch......were the first engaged with the enemy and achieved a tactical victory and securing a foothold in a manner the marines simply could not do".

Uhhhhhh, did we get Bin Laden? Have we stopped the growth of terrorism?
Is Afganistan any better off? Are we as a nation, any safer?

Re: JCOS. You could be right. Very right. But the pork flows both ways.

>"Again, now they are high ranking lobbyists whose primary job is to insure their branch gets a sufficient cut of the defense dollars - a huge amount of money is at stake and the JCOS after four decades of budgetary battling - are best suited to sneaking to congress and threatening ouster for members whose constituencies they are not serving well, if they allow cuts to pass."

>"Do you really think that Rumsfeld wants an Iraq operation to topple Saddam to fail? Do you think Bush does?"

Here we get into apples and oranges. They think that by taking out Sadam, that the world will be a safer place. Yet the world is basically NOT in agreement with this decision. War, killing, maiming. It sets precedents.....dosen't it? I think Dave Goodrich gave an excellent example of this above in another thread.

>"But this is not enough - especially if a pet project is being shelved - and the contractors - and the payola which so many contracting decision-makers receive along the way of huge government contracting is threatened."

Yes, and I understand this; but because of all the PORK which so freely flows into our war planning and activities, there is also NO ACCOUNTABILITY into the billions of dollars the Defense Dept. has lost and pissed away over the past couple of decades.
I protest! Where did my money go?
Why is nobody concerned about the trough feeders?
Where can I go to complain?? LOL

You can't solve war by making more war.
We may not agree on how this country is run, but unless some questions are addressed first, and answered without secrecy, progress is surely to be denied.
