As I pointed out in an earlier post, to a leftist or collectivist the actual outcome of a policy is almost completely irrelevant to the agenda. In their minds, there has never been a real failure of any leftist idea. Prove it to yourself. Talk to one, once. You cannot get one to admit that any favorite leftist concept has ever actually failed to work because the idea itself was unsound. The excuses they use to explain the failures are an afternoon's entertainment all by themselves ("the Americans made Pol Pot do it").

To people with working forebrains, the history of the Left is saturated with policy failures, both on an international and a local level, ranging from the simply stupid all the way up to the ghastly destruction of communism.

But that doesn't mean anything to a true believer.

So, don't expect this article to change any minds.
