Nothing you are telling me changes the original premise: That gun control and confiscation are legal tools used by tyrants to control their citizens and consolidate absolute power. In fact, your examples of the dangers of owning weapons under the Nazis just further prove my point.
It was dangerous in the extreme in the Old South to hide slaves who were trying to escape. Just because hiding slaves was dangerous to the occupants, it does not automatically follow that the fugitive slave laws were a good idea.
