If we leave things as they are, as suggested by some officials, with Mueller and Tenet "re-organizing" their bureaus without oversight,
We could have people inside our most sensitive organizations feeding the bad guys our "secrets".
And, we could have the bad guys organize a very successful cheap attack on a large target in New York.
I'm assuming everyone has done their best all along.
We could have the government covering up what was known and when in order to save some bureaucrats embarrassment.
We would have protecting bureaucrats from embarrassment be more important than reassuring Americans everything which can be done is to protect their country.
We would be told the cover-up was to protect secrets and it's unpatriotic to question any official about how well they did their job.
And finally, leaving the same organizations, the same people in place, saying they will try harder is the solution we should all accept, knowing how well they have done so far.
No one wants any of that. Why would anyone except the present administration want the American public to stick their heads in the sand? And why did they cover-up? It's our country, too.
It gets a little tiresome hearing these people try to reassure me that they have now closed the barn door. The horses got out through a hole in the wall. We may need people who want to keep horses in.
