Flame » in reply to A world where your POV doesn't have to be true at all seems to be comfortable for a lot of people.

EDITED:

That's right, my POV doesn't HAVE to be true. That's why its a POV. I don't have complete confidence in all my opinions all the time. I'm not totally right about everything all the time, either. Sometimes I change my mind, sometimes I see both sides of a question, sometimes I'm somewhere in between. Sometimes I'm even wrong, not because I didn't have all the facts, but because I misinterpreted a fact or changed my mind after some reflection. My opinions do not have to pass an ideological litmus test or a be listed in a catalog of dogmatic "principles". And people who reject that POV are doctrinaire zealots incapable of seeing any reality that doesn't already conform to their prior expectations.

I do have confidence in my ability to discern truth from falsehood, or at the very least, to recognize when I haven't enough information to make an informed decision. I have absolutely no confidence in your ability to do the same.

You're scared, you're angry, you're bitter, and you're furious, livid that anyone, particlar someone you like and respect, simply can't accept your religious beliefs. And that's all they are, TB; religious beliefs.

I'm just a Democrat, Tom, not a Trotskyite. You stopped being just a Republican a long time ago.
