Hmmm...I know I've been out of the HabitableZone loop for a bit, and I know it can be a contentious place, but I don't recall it being quite like this:
"...this divisive rhetoric is now just the typical left's practice of aiding and abetting our sworn enemy by talk of appeasement and containment."
Isn't this a bit extreme? Jimmy Carter, and the American left, is "aiding and abetting our sworn enemy..."?
Nobody here *wants* to see more American casualties. But many don't particularly relish the idea of Iraqi or Palestinian casualties either. Hoping or--gawd forbid--actually working for peaceful solutions does not make one a cheerleader for Saddam or bin Laden.
I hurt deeply when I read or see something about 9/11, but I'll find neither comfort nor closure in the sight of huge smoldering craters in downtown Baghdad.
