Hi Splinx,
It "stinks to high heaven" because you're letting a political hack (Derek Mitchell) manipulate your thinking.
It's easy enough to see that Mitchell has an agenda. He wants you to read between lines which are not there.
Observe:
Today four men were shot by the US paid guards of Afghan President Karzai and they lay in a pool of blood outside his palace.
Today four men were killed by bodyguards of Afghan President Karzai.
Today four suspected Al Qaida terrorist assassins were killed by US military forces.
----
All three of these lines are true, yet are designed very craftily to inspire very different human responses.
LINE ONE ANALYSIS:
The first line makes you wonder just why these men were shot? Are they victims? By inserting the word "US paid" to describe his bodyguards you try to make folks think that Karzai is just a US puppet. Simply leaving out the word assassins and adding a graphic word image of them in a pool of their own blood makes one think that Karzai is a bloodthirsty and evil man. Including the word "palace" makes one think he is a heartless puppet despot living the good life.
LINE TWO ANALYSIS:
This is the level of detail Mitchell is providing you with. Providing certain facts while omitting other crucial ones necessary for broader understanding.
By omitting the fact that these men were armed assassins - again we wonder as to what really happened. We wonder if it was the shooting of an unarmed man scenario. This is the level of distortion in most media news outlets write-ups. Mitchell has much experience in writing up political propaganda and official "news"
LINE THREE ANALYSIS:
Here we are given more data. We know that the men were killed because they were assassins. We are told they are suspected to be linked to Al Qaida...the part about the US forces as working as bodyguards for Karzai is omitted. This omission also indicates the article is written by a more supportive or sympathetic group.
This is why the Timelines site is worthless. Because the sponsor has an obvious axe to grind. As such EVERY single fact, quote and line would need to be rechecked because WE KNOW he is trying to sway people just like you with the manner in which he arranges his "facts."!
Mr. Mitchell has designed a site which has a sole intent and goal to make folks believe that Bush and the military held back the planes and let the people die and the towers be destroyed for some conspiratorial purpose (Iraq's oil, a pipeline through Afghanistan and what have you.) All while hiding behind some objective facts and point of view rhetoric.
The fact that you are immediately being deceived and lied to should be your first warning.
Though the site attempts conceals its backers and sponsors from readers - a little investigation paints a solid trail right back to the DNC war room.
It's a mish-mash of real and make believe and innuendo. It's only difference fromthis siteis that it's more subtle and sophisticated.
Both sites are pure agenda-driven hate sites.
