Michael Battle, the U.S. attorney for western New York, said the men trained in an al Qaeda camp near Kandahar, Afghanistan, at the same time as John Walker Lindh, the California man captured fighting with Taliban forces in Afghanistan last year. The FBI has described the Al Farook facility as a "boot camp" for al Qaeda recruits. "We are not aware that they were awaiting any orders," Battle said. "What we do know is that they trained in a camp and that camp was run by al Qaeda trainers."

LACKAWANNA, New York -- CNN
The FBI has arrested a sixth man in connection with five other Buffalo, New York-area men charged with providing material support to the al Qaeda terrorist network, according to a Muslim community leader.

Mokhtar al-Bakri is being held at a federal detention center outside of Buffalo after being taken into custody in Bahrain, where he was to have been wed in an arranged marriage, Dr. Khalid Qazi, president of the American Muslim Council of Western New York, told CNN.

Al-Bakri's home was one of the locations searched by the FBI in a series of raids in Lackawanna that began Friday night after a criminal complaint was filed.

Following standard court procedure, al-Barkri would have his first appearance in U.S. District Court on Monday.

At a two-hour hearing in U.S. District Court on Saturday, the other five men were charged with one count each of providing material support to a foreign terrorist organization, namely al Qaeda. The government alleges that the men's participation in the al Qaeda camps amounted to "material support."
