So you explain to me why "the appropriate time" for debate on this is after November 5, and not now. Unless his motives are political.
I do not think Daschle is anti-American, especially compared to some of the creeps in the media and universities, but he has demonstrated time and again that his primary motivation in everything he does is gaining and keeping political power for himself and his party. In this, he is obviously not alone in Washington, but he's so damn obvious about it.
His sleazy method of taking control of the Senate after winding up on the short end of the 2000 election would have had liberals and the media screaming and tearing their hair out if a Republican had pulled something like that. How often do you even hear it mentioned, much less constantly ragged on like Bush's "theft" of the presidency?
I guess the SD voters will make up their own mind in November. I wouldn't call it either way--the SD voters tend to think locally, and Daschle's position on farms and water will make a much bigger impression than his position on Iraq.
And give us a break...after all the posts I've done, I still have to check on the spelling of his name now and then. ;)
