In the article I linked, the sources cited in the author's discussion of British spending levels were OECD documents. I looked at the originals, same as the writer did.
Oddly, the numbers on the spreadsheets probably don't change that much if a Nobel Laureate looks at them. There isn't much of physics in economics, but if you're doing it right, there sure as hell is math.
I notice only one of the two authors bothered to back up his statements with data.
