2 weigths, 2 measures

Stephen Zunes, a professor at San Francisco tried to find if before the 1441 UN Resolution, relative to Iraq, other violated UN resolutions might not have suscitated the same desire to see International Law being applied without delay (favorable votes from the UN 5 permanent members).
He didn't include the resolutions with a too general topic or those that have no purpose anymore (outdated).
The international community has violated UN resolutions 91 times.
Two of the countries involved in the non respect of UN resolutions are US allies: Israel and Turkey.
(56 out of 91 violated resolutions involve both countries.
Israel hasn't respected 32 UN resolutions, since 1968 (the 2 first involved the illegal modification of Jerusalem's status and the destruction of planes parked in the Beyrouth airport. Many others followed concerning the occupation.
Turkey was 24 times reprimanded because of the Cyprus occupation (first resolution in 1974 claiming the sovereingty of Cyprus and withdrawal of the Turkish army).
Marocco provoked 16 UN resolutions, (from 1975) about Western Sahara and when it happened (withdrawal), the UN demanded ,also by a resolution,, the immediate freedom of the people detained since the beginning of the conflict.
Croatia (6 resolutions, Indonesia (4) , Armenia (4) also haven't or hardly have respected UN resolutions.

And yet, now Iraq must comply to 1441, otherwise it will be attacked.
Two weights, two measures.

Iraq is under the most punitive peace conditions ever applied to a country since the Versailles Treaty creating the League of Nations (which lead to we know what in Germany; which BTW explains why Saddam is still there).
After WW2, the international community had learned the history lessons by facilitating the economical recovery of Germany and Japan.
But the treatment, murderous for civilians, inflicted to Irak since the Gulf war, shows how the western world is ready to impose a punitive peace to third world countries, especially if those countries are under Muslim influence.
