The sole difference is Sadam's past history of using chemical weapons on his own and neighboring people. He is a threat to all humans like no other leader of a country in our current times. He has shown his demeanor to all and it is unacceptable to all humans, especially the good Muslims of Iraq.
To imply that current trade bans on Iraq is *murderous for civilians* and not the fault of Sadam is obviously narrow minded. It seems to me the aurthor was searching, grabbing in a futile manner.
